How we install
From free quote to ongoing aftercare — the AMP install process
The full step-by-step process for every install. Single team, single point of contact, fixed-price quotes, in-house engineers (never subcontracted). 8 steps, 6-10 weeks typical end-to-end.
- 1
Free enquiry + initial scoping
15 minutesCall or use the online quote form. We ask 4-5 questions: postcode, property type, current setup, what you're thinking about, rough timing. No high-pressure sales call. You get a same-day response from our office team scheduling the next step.
How we go deeper than competitors
If solar PV, we run a 3D roof model from satellite imagery before the call to give you a rough kWp + cost band. If heat pump, we estimate property type and likely BUS grant eligibility. If EV charging, we check Northern Powergrid supply capacity from the postcode.
- 2
Free site survey
60-90 minutes on siteA surveyor visits your property at a time that works for you (weekday evenings + Saturdays available). Full property walk-around: roof inspection (or attic for cable routing), main fuse rating, current heating system, hot-water demand, garden access, parking layout. No obligation, no pressure to sign.
How we go deeper than competitors
For heat pump surveys we run a full room-by-room heat loss calculation to BS EN 12831. For solar we run a 3D model with full shading analysis. The survey takes longer than rushed competitors because we actually need the data to design properly.
- 3
Designed proposal + fixed-price quote
5-7 working daysA full designed proposal — system specification, projected generation/savings/payback, equipment data sheets, scaffolding requirements, grant pathway (BUS, ECO4, OZEV, PSDS as applicable), and a fixed-price quote with no hidden extras. You get this as a PDF emailed within a week of the survey.
How we go deeper than competitors
Heat pump proposals include the heat loss calc, emitter compatibility analysis (which radiators need upgrading and which don't), and projected SCOP. Solar proposals include 25-year financial model with conservative degradation assumptions. EV charger proposals include the DNO G98/G99 path.
- 4
Decision, agreement, deposit
When you're readyNo deadlines or "today-only" pricing. When you're ready to proceed, we send a contract (RECC consumer-protection compliant), take a deposit (typically 10-25%), and book the install date. We never store payment details and don't use automated billing.
How we go deeper than competitors
If you want changes to the proposal (size up, size down, change battery brand) we re-quote at no charge. Our typical decision-to-install window is 4-8 weeks for residential and 8-16 weeks for commercial. Faster turnaround on urgent boiler/heating replacement.
- 5
Pre-install preparation
2-4 weeks before installWe handle: DNO application (G98 or G99 — Northern Powergrid, NGED or SPN as applicable), MCS notification, building control where needed, planning permission consultation if heritage or conservation area, scaffolding booking, equipment delivery to our warehouse, and a final pre-install confirmation call.
How we go deeper than competitors
You don't contact the DNO, MCS, building control or scaffolding company yourself — we do all of it. The pre-install call confirms exact dates, access arrangements, parking, pets, and any house-specific concerns.
- 6
Installation day(s)
1-5 days depending on systemOur own engineers — never subcontracted. Solar typically 1-2 days. Heat pumps 3-5 days. EV chargers same-day. Boilers same-day or 2 days for awkward swaps. We work tidy, cover floors, brief you on what's happening each morning, and clear the site each evening.
How we go deeper than competitors
Heat pump installs include radiator upgrades on the same visit if specified. Solar includes inverter setup, app handover, and a working SEG-ready system at end of day 2. EV chargers include Octopus Intelligent Go setup if you're on that tariff.
- 7
Commissioning, certification + handover
Final 2-3 hours of installSystem commissioning to MCS/G98/G99/F-Gas/Gas Safe standards as applicable. Customer walkthrough — how to use the app, what the readings mean, what to do if something looks wrong, when to expect your first bill change. Handover pack: MCS cert, DNO confirmation, BUS application receipt (if heat pump), warranty registration confirmations, SEG sign-up steps (if solar), tariff recommendations.
How we go deeper than competitors
Every install ends with a working, certified, registered system. You leave the handover knowing how to use it, where to find help if needed, and what financial milestones to expect over the next 12 months.
- 8
Ongoing aftercare
Annual + on-demandAnnual service contract (optional but recommended): performance audit, software updates, filter cleans (heat pumps + AC), F-Gas compliance check (AC + heat pumps with HFC refrigerant), gas safety check (boilers). 24-hour callout for warranty issues. Direct phone line to our engineering team — never an offshore call centre.
How we go deeper than competitors
We typically service heat pumps + boilers annually (mandatory for warranty), AC every 2 years, solar every 3 years (panels are passive — mostly visual inspection + inverter check). We bundle multi-system service contracts to reduce visit count for customers with full installs.
