OZEV EV Chargepoint Grant (Residential)
Landlords, flat owner-occupiers (no longer for single-house owners)
The OZEV EV Chargepoint Grant for residential is split into two streams: the Residential Chargepoint Scheme (RCS) for landlords (rental properties) and the Electric Vehicle Chargepoint Grant for flat owner-occupiers. Both pay £350 per chargepoint socket installed. Single-house owners (the original Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme audience) are no longer eligible — that grant closed in March 2022.
Eligibility
Who qualifies for OZEV
- Landlord (Residential Chargepoint Scheme — rental properties), OR
- Flat owner-occupier (EV Chargepoint Grant for flat-dwellers)
- Chargepoint installed by an OZEV-approved installer (AMP is approved)
- Chargepoint must be a smart charger (open protocol, default off-peak)
- Property must have dedicated parking
- Charger must be wired to the property's metered supply
Not eligible
Who's excluded
- Single-house owner-occupiers (the Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme closed March 2022)
- Tenants without landlord permission
- Non-smart "dumb" chargers
- Workplace chargers (use Workplace Charging Scheme instead)
- Properties without off-street parking
The process
How OZEV works, end to end
We handle the entire application — you never speak to the granting body. The grant is paid to AMP and deducted directly from your invoice.
1. Eligibility check
During our free survey we confirm which OZEV stream applies (landlord vs flat owner) and whether your specific property qualifies.
2. Smart charger selection
We install Zappi, Ohme, Easee or Andersen units — all OZEV-eligible smart chargers with open protocols.
3. Install + DNO notification
NICEIC certified install. Northern Powergrid G98/G99 notification handled by us.
4. OZEV claim submission
We submit the claim to OZEV on your behalf, with the certified install paperwork and unit serial numbers.
5. Grant credited
OZEV processes claims within 30-60 days. The £350 is paid to AMP and credited to your final invoice.
Context
What you need to know
The Residential Chargepoint Scheme for landlords is uncapped — landlords can claim £350 per socket across multiple rental properties. The flat owner-occupier stream is single-property, single-grant.
For multi-property landlords (e.g. HMO operators, BTL portfolio holders, housing associations), the per-socket structure makes whole-portfolio rollouts particularly cost-effective. AMP can coordinate phased installs across a portfolio with a single contract.
A note on smart-charger requirement: OZEV grants require chargers that default to off-peak charging and support open communication standards (OCPP). All four brands we install — Zappi, Ohme, Easee, Andersen — meet this requirement.
